Some of my thoughts are (I forwarded them to make music, hoping they will fix them in the future!):ДЎ) it's a real nonsense that in percussion patches (timpani rolls, orchestral percussions.) in which there are BOTH single hits samples and sustained rolls samples, the modwheel is controlling the volume of both single hits and sustained rolls.

I'd like to remember that achieving realism (or a sort of.) with orchestral samples means not just to 'connect' beautiful samples togehter playing different notes, but to blend them and make the music 'live' and 'flow': GPO was excellent in this way, considering its price tag (we are not speaking about vienna symphonic library here!), while GIO is quite poor, as i said due to the patch-programming choices. I would consider it more a synth with orchestral sounds, such as a emu proteus 2 or emu virtuoso on steroids, but we are (IMHO) far from a product able to deliver 'realistic' orchestral passages. I understand this is a different product with respect to GPO and the two may well complement each other but, speaking about orchestral emulation and realism, I feel GIO is lacking a lot of controls and could be implemented much more with some effort from the developers. GIO could have been programmed much much better. I miss a lot ALL the simple and useful controls that there were in GPO, expecially the legato pedal, the humanization by timbre and intonation variation the keyswitced patches that permitted to avoid the machine gun effect.

GIO is much much less developed and versatile than GPO, there are no extended controls such as the one there was in GPO to control the 'life' of samples. I was expecting something similar in GIO but I was disappointed from this point of view. The ease of use, coupled with the perfect programming, lead me to enjoy GPO a lot. Controls such as modwheel volume, legato pedal, timbre and intonation variation, portamento, etc, if well-used and understood, could lead to nice and quite realistic music phrasing. It has nice sounds, but most important it has a lot of tweaking possibilities to achieve liveliness within the musical phrase of each instruments. I want to start with the fact that I own Garritan Personal Orchestra since its birth and i'm extrememly satisfied with it. some of the demo were quite poor in explaining GIO content and were just a showcase of sounds. I mean, which kind of 'sounds' to expect and which kind of 'playability' will have those sounds.

I own Garritan Instant Orchestra, it's fun and has some good textures, but what upsets me the most with any software is not being able to activate it on a new computer cause the authentication servers are gone.ДЇirst of all, from the descriptions or from informations found on internet it was not so easy to understand what I was about to buy. You are buying something that is for the lack of better words, dead.' That and we only had a small time to program everything, so it is very old school style programming as well. 'I would not buy something that is discontinued, but still selling, in fact that bothers me that it is still selling knowing that it will never be updated.
